Program Highlights

In 2022, Queen of Peace School was the only Oregon school to be named a U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School. The US department of education GRS is a public engagement initiative structured as a federal recognition award for school sustainability. It is intended to promote state and local collaboration regarding school facilities, health, and environmental education.

What does this mean?
Queen of Peace School successfully achieved the award’s three sustainability focused pillars. This is measured by reducing environmental impact and costs, improving the health and wellness of students and staff, and providing effective environmental and sustainability education.

Some programs and clubs at QP that contributed to these achievements include:

  • Watt watchers
  • Composting
  • Gardening
  • Recycling
  • Western Bluebird interactive trail
  • Pollinator garden
